Description
A striking 1924 portrait of a Native American chief, painted in gouache and watercolor on artist’s board. The work is boldly signed “KREMER” and dated “Jul 24” at lower right.
The chief is portrayed in vivid detail, wearing a feather headdress, fringed buckskin shirt, and medallion. Strong color and confident brushwork give the piece both decorative impact and historic charm.
The painting remains in its period oak frame, which shows expected age wear but suits the work’s vintage presentation. Surface shows light age cracking and a few small marks, but overall the piece is stable and ready to hang.
While the signature reads KREMER, the specific artist has not been conclusively identified. This makes the work an intriguing opportunity for collectors of Native American subject matter, Western portraiture, or early 20th-century Americana.
