Description
Vintage 1960s artisan made Japanese ikebana vase, featuring a biomorphic shape that blends the organic, sculptural sensibility of Doug Ayers with the time elegance of classic Toyo design. The asymmetrical form is crafted from rich walnut wood, accentuating the natural grain and warm tones of the material. A circular cut-out in the design adds to the sense of balance and movement, perfectly suited for a minimalist ikebana arrangement.
Signed on the underise in Kanji, 柑山 translates to something like “Citrus Mountain” or simply “Kayama”, which is likely a name, either the artist’s or a studio’s name.See
